How to understand the main involute values shown on the control chart

gennaio 04, 2023
Understanding the main involute values shown on the control chart is essential to be able to prevent possible problems on series production. From the graph we can also identify the main errors or deviations present on the tooth profile following processing. There are different types of deviations and they are all attributable to the profile of the gear tooth. We believe that addressing this issue is important because the tooth profile on the involute causes several problems, including noise and breakage. Obviously each case has to be analyzed on its own because it depends a lot on the condition in which the gear is working, even if it is often difficult to get an overview. Gears are really complex mechanical components that you need to know in depth to be treated.

Shape deviation of the profile Fα

The shape deviation of the profile fα of a tooth flank is the distance between the two involutes of the real base circle, which takes into account the shape deviations of the involutes. This by acting within the working range of the profile including the tangent point of intersection with the real profile. Profile corrections are used to reduce transmission problems, as well as shock and surface damage to the teeth. The easiest way is to move the profiles to nodes that are equally spaced. All this takes place with the support of specific numerical control tools and machines.
